Hair how to: the elegant looped-under ponytail. Elegantly equestrian, fetchingly fresh: pair a slick center part with a looped-under ponytail for one of spring’s chicest up ‘dos. It’s a style that doesn’t have to be reserved for after the sun goes down.

1. Start with clean, healthy-looking hair. If your hair is damaged or frizzy in texture, use a smoothing and conditioning oil or balm to help improve the quality and give it a natural looking shine.  May we suggest Redken’s All Soft Argan-6 Oil.

2. Apply a styling cream/lotion to dampened hair, then blow-dry it straight.  Redken’s Satinwear Blowdry Lotion.

3. Part the hair in the middle and pull it into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. If your hair is fine, you can tease it a little for more volume then spray it with hairspray to hold it. For those who don’t like that teased feeling for extra lift, try Redken’s Powder Grip.

4. Loop the length of the ponytail under and secure with an elastic, keeping one small section free. Using the fingers, mold the shape of the looped ponytail into a neat triangular shape.

5. Wrap the loose section of hair around the base of the ponytail, covering the elastic. Pin it in place.

Last night at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards we saw a little bit of everything when it comes to hair. Be it simple and elegant as Gwenyth Paltrow and Fergie, revisiting the fringe/bangs from Taylor Swift, smooth waves from Miranda Lambert.
